[110910] shinee world 1st concert in sg
Wednesday 14 September 2011 @ 22:27
On the 10th of September 2011, the shining SHINee boys under SM Entertainment came back to Singapore for the fourth time for their 'SHINee World 1st Concert in Singapore'! The event was certainly prepared with great effort by the team of the organizers, Running into the Sun and Conceptual, even chalking up to a sum of 1.7 million in preparation. However, I'm sure fans were not disappointed as the 2 and a half hours concert consisted of a laser show and fascinating sights as the five idols were lifted up above the stage.

The show started at 6 in the evening with a background video playing on the screens, which elicited enthusiastic responses from the audience. Suddenly, SHINee jumped out onto the stage one by one - no doubt one of the factors which contributed to the 1.7 million budget - and surprised all the fans. They then started the show with 'The SHINee World (Doobop version)', 'Senorita' and 'Get Down', which is a competition of fierce rapping between members Key and Minho with Onew, Jonghyun and Taemin singing along as background music. They proceeded to sing popular hits like 'A.Mi.Go', 'Juliette' and from their most recent comeback after 'Lucifer' last year, 'Hello'.

They took a break from the continuous singing and dancing by giving a short introduction in Korean, which was translated by a translator. Without further ado, they performed 'Your Name', 'Stand by Me', a popular OST in Korean drama 'Boys over Flowers', and 'Love will go on'.

After that, the individual boys proved their talents to us as they, with the exception of Onew, performed their solos. First up was Taemin with an impressive performance of singing 'Romeo + Juliet/Boy meets Girl' and some powerful dancing, followed by lead singer Jonghyun's 'Lost love', a sad song which he sang with much emotions. After Jonghyun's song with melancholic tones, Minho and Key then brought the house down with performances of 'Oh my Gosh' and 'My First Kiss' respectively. While Minho danced with his shirt revealing his well-defined abs muscles which had the crowd screaming hysterically, Key performed his song with fellow member Taemin who crossdressed as a girl, causing the audience to squeal with delight. (As most fans would know, Taemin is much recognized with feminine features!)

After Key's solo, the members jumped back up for an exciting performance of A-yo. One could certainly feel the excitement radiating off the boys as they led the crowd in waving the aqua-coloured lightsticks while singing "A-YO!". Next, they performed slower beats such as 'Romantic', 'Obsession' and 'Graze'. Just as the audience was getting used to waving their lightsticks slowly, the boys surprised them yet again with exhilarating performance of 'Love like Oxygen'.

As the boys went backstage again for a change of costumes, the screens showed pre-filmed videos of the boys. The crowd went silent as they watched and burst out with screams as they stopped. The boys then came back onstage for emotional songs like 'Quasimodo' and 'Life'. Immediately after that, leader Onew belted out a strong opera song titled 'Nessa Dorma', showing the crowd his impressive vocals.

Next was 'A Child in the Island House', a flawless performance in which the boys ascended in a vision of white. It featured young Singaporean child-actor, Baptist Lim, whereby he "tripped" and fell on the stage. The most breathtaking moment would be when Onew ascended with wings, adding to his usual pure look, to embrace to boy with them.

Without giving the audience a change to catch a breath after such a nice performance, SHINee hyped up them again with popular hits such as 'Ring Ding Dong', 'Up & down' and 'Ready or not'. One could most certainly feel the excitement and happiness rolling off the boys as they went hyper over 'Up & Down' by jumping, literally, up and down, and 'Ready or not' by going around spinning in circles.

Without further ado, alas, the time has finally came for their most recent hit, 'Lucifer'! It was considerably the most spectacular performance of the night - the boys dangled precariously above the audience on wires with Wolverine-like claws emitting green lasers, even with member Jonghyun shooting out sparks. It was, indeed, extremely exciting to watch.

The lights were then suddenly switched off, leaving the crowd bewildered. The shouts for encore soon ensued and the boys reappeared on stage, wearing the 'SHINee World 1st Concert' Tee, which was only available to the first 200 people who pre-ordered it, with performances of 'Jojo' and 'One'. Their performances have then ended for the night, but the excitement has yet to end by a long shot.

The boys wore cute headgear and threw out plastic balls to the audience at the mosh pit - Key even made the effort to peck his lips on each ball before throwing his out. After they've all finished throwing, it was an amusing sight to witness as the boys ran around the stage to try and pour water on each other. Afterwards, the audience surprised Key by singing him a 'Happy birthday' song, as well as holding up a fansite AeKey's hand banners which said "Happy 키's Day", with the other SHINee members singing along. The members then sprayed Key with pink party poppers, and Key had an impromptu dancing session as well. It was indeed endearing to see the members bond together as a group.

At the very end, SHINee gave thanks to the audience by bowing down 90 degrees while holding hands together with each other and the backup dancers, with Key assuring them that they will see them again soon.

It was a spectacular concert, and we do hope everyone who went had enjoyed themselves there. For those who didn't manage to go, we hope that you have enjoyed our coverage on it. For all Shawols, we certainly hope that SHINee will come back to Singapore again soon!

Here's a photo of the aqua sea on that night!
